[ORRando] Shipping bike overseas?

Anyone have any experience shipping a bike internationally that is reasonably priced ? Would be convenient if I could ship my bike back after PBP. I checked with BikeFlights.com. They want $790 one way. For that price, I’ll drag it around Southern France for a couple weeks. Seems crazy to cost so much, when you can ship it across the U.S. for less than $80.
