What Ken said and a few notes:
The Birkenfeld store is questionable for refueling due to variable hours of operation.
It's 40+ miles from Vernonia to Bakers General Store. Plan accordingly.

That pavement from The Birkenfeld store to OR 103 is a bit choppy.
The rest of the road is pretty good.

There is a cattle guard at the Jewell Meadows H.Q. entrance
that is slippery when wet.
There is currently a bachelor herd of elk in residence.
Don't miss it.

The Elderberry Inn/Baker Store control is not technically in Elsie.
When you come up to US 30 from OR 103 turn RIGHT towards Portland.
Don't follow the road sign pointing West to Elsie.

Ken and I did a lot of sightseeing and rode right to the edge of qualifying.
