Here is more information and commentary on this terrible "accident", including a comment by bicycle attorney Ray Thomas.  The news article misspells his name, which is Dave Apperson.  Ironically the victim was a traffic signal technician for ODOT, the state agency who should be making the roads safer for us.  There are accounts of other past encounters Dave had with passing automobiles.  So sad.

  Apparently, riding in the travel lane is reason enough to not cite someone for killing a cyclist in Polk County.  Appalling.
