No shoulder straps... doesn't set on your back. The capacity of 2 large bottles. Because it is designed to sit on your hips, it has a long hose. However, this should easy fit inside a handlebar bag it you make room. Since cold water is a priority for me on hot days... this has been worked into my setup... including a way to keep the hose out of my front wheel when I remove the resovoir to refill. Next time you are in REI, take a look and imagine. I haven't used my other too "regular" camelbacks since getting one of these.
