[OrRando] hydration packs

Hello All,

I started using a Camelbak when I lived in Texas. Camelbaks were a god-send for riding in Texas in the summer. With the distances in between Texas towns, it made Summer time riding a lot more bearable.

I recently upgraded to the new Camelbak Mule. It has an improved back that has flow-thru ventilation and keeps the your back cool and lots less sweaty. It also has better insulation for keeping your go-juice cool. The new design also makes getting the bladder in and out a snap.

The drawback to the new Mule is that is has ample room to carry lots of stuff. Try to avoid going by garage/yard sales when wearing a Camelback Mule. You might find something you can put in it and have to ride home with it.

I do not notice the weight of the Mule. One reason is the new one fits so well on the back. Another is the back pack I use to commute in to work with weighs a lot more than a full Mule.

Cheers,

Gary Smith

Subject: [OrRando] hydration packs

I'm looking for hydration pack recommendations from those who use them. I really dislike anything on my back, but after the heat of the Cascade 1200 last year, I'd like to be better prepared for the PDX to Glacier 1000k in a few weeks.

I'm looking for large capacity (probably 100oz) and some insulation so that I don't have to drink 105 degree water.

Anybody have any favorites?

Thanks,

Nate
