[ORRando] Spring 600

Hi folks,

I have submitted the course for the OR Randonneurs' Spring 600k (dubbed,
The Applegate 600) for approval. It should be a fun route; the goal was to
pack in as many quiet, scenic Willamette Valley roads that we haven't
ridden yet (or, at least, haven't ridden very much) as possible, and I
think I succeeded pretty well. The ride will start in Oregon City and
(after a brief sojourn through the Boring Lava Flow) go down the valley on
the west side, have an overnight controle in Eugene, and come back north to
Oregon City on the east side of the valley. Yes, as per my reputation,
there are some hills on the course. But nothing killer, it's all lowland
(no mountain passes), and there are loooonnng stretches of lovely, flat
Willamette Valley riding.

I'm sending this out as a call for volunteers. It'd be particularly
awesome if one or two of our contingent down in the Eugene area wanted to
help by staffing the overnight controle. The ride is scheduled for June
1-2, and volunteers would be welcome to pre-ride with me, or at any time up
to 2 weeks before the event. Given how readily available services are in
the valley at all times, I'm inclined to run the ride with as few frills as
possible to cut down on the expense (e.g., no pre-booked rooms at the
overnight), but it is still a 600, and there will be plenty to do for
volunteers.

Let me know if you can help out, or if you have any questions about the
course (the cue sheet will go up when the route is approved.)
