That's really impressive.  To put it into galactic perspective, here are some comparisons to a distance of 300,000 miles:

The average distance from Earth to the Moon is 238,857 miles (center to center).
Circumference of Earth is almost 25,000 miles, so Del's ridden the equivalent of 12 times around the Earth.
The largest planet in our solar system is Jupiter.  Its circumference is just over 279,000 miles.

I started logging my bike mileage in 1966.
Yesterday, on my evening commute, I passed 300,000 miles at about
6:15 pm, 10-12-11 on Springwater Trail bridge over McLoughlin Blvd.

First log entry Jan. 2, 1966.  Age 20, club ride, Lytle Creek, 60 miles.
100,000 miles in May 1988.  22 years later, age 42.
200,000 mles in June 2002.  Another 14 years, age 56.
300,000 miles in Oct. 2011.  Less than 10 years, age 66.

8 years under 3000 miles.  Low of 1250 in 1970.
8 years over 10,000 miles.  High of 12,546 in 2004.
