[ORRando] ORRando Digest, Vol 58, Issue 2

I can personally vouch for all of ice breaker's clothes.

They are a bit expensive but my girlfriend and I wore them everyday when we were pruning grapevines in the cold of Central Otago, NZ this past July. I wore my zip almost every day in the ice and mud. It is still elastic and I can even wear it to dressy functions as well. They don't make any cycling specific tops but I use mine for rides all the time. Especially if you have a bag to carry most of your "pocket items" as many of us randonneur types do.

I just moved to Mcminnville and I am very excited to go on some rides with all of you fine folks.

Cheers,

Colin

> What Scott says about the jersey stretching out seems to be true of wool in general. My old, twenty year old that is, Kucharik wool jersey just about covers my butt when a few items weigh down the rear pockets. The red Oregon Randonneurs jersey from Woolistic is slightly less baggy on the length issue, while it fits well circumferentially. A Filson wool long sleeve pullover goes down to about mid thigh. Keeps the package warm. Perhaps the wool garment makers got tired of all the shrinkage problems and designed in a little extra. My experience has been the more you pay for the wool garment, the better it fits. So check out the Rapha at $170 or the Twin Six at around $120, if your wallet can handle it. Mine can?t.

The zippered back pocket is unique, but the zippers are not very durable. I had one break after only 2-3 rides. Plus, if you put anything in the jersey rear pocket, the back of the jersey stretches out fairly easily.

> The elevation gain for the Oregon Blue Mountains 1000k has been updated on the web site from 41,000 feet to 33,600 feet an the route sheet has been updated with the new elevations. Recent scouting trips over 400 miles revealed the need for a new elevation estimate. The new estimate uses Bikely and the route divided into 5 pieces. The Bikely estimate is a better match with my gps altimeter.
