I have updated the route for this Saturday's 200k brevet. There was a
section of Fern Hill Road south of Forest Grove that was flooded a few
days before my pre-ride, and there is the potential of more flooding
this week. Because of that, I changed the first and last section of the
route to a slightly longer, more rural, and a lot more pleasant route
south of Hillsboro and Cornelius. It adds 5km to the total distance.

If you have already downloaded the tentative route sheet, please go to
http://www.napolitano.it/2010/12/new-years-brevet-hilsboro-dallas-hillsboro-200k/
and follow the link at the bottom of the post to download it again. What
is there now should be final.

I did my preride last week, and the route is almost all on low traffic
roads, except for the stretch of OR-99 around Amity, which has a nice
wide shoulder to ride on. The only hilly section is the one between
Perrydale and Dallas, about 14 km each way. The rest is mostly flat, by
Oregon standards.

At this point the weather forecast for the weekend is alternating
between very cold and dry, and cold and wet. There is the potential of
snow on the coast range later this week, but the route for the brevet is
all on the valley floor, so I doubt that it is going to be an issue.

I have 15 riders signed up so far. If you want to ride and haven't
registered, please do so in the next couple of days, so that I know how
many cards to print, and what I need to buy/make. Please let me know if
you have any dietary preferences, I plan to have some hot food at the
end (as you may know, the route starts and ends at my house), possibly
chili or shepherd's pie. Not sure what yet. If you have suggestions or
ideas, send me an email.
