Geez - can't you guys recognize hyperbole when you see it? :-)
And for the record, anything that is not steel counts as plastic :-)

at the start, I looked at Lamb and said "I think we did this in 6:30 ride time last year, 6:55 total time." I had no intention on attempting a sub 6. If someone was offended by my comments, I beg your pardon.

You know, before this Birkie, I had no idea why they called it "raindonneuring".
Phil is right, though. In spite of the rain, that group of five was the nicest paceline I'd ever been in in any of my four Birkies -- great fender coverage across the board. When I flatted, I encouraged them to go on to avoid getting hypothermia waiting for me, but I was sad to see 'em go.
My favorite moment: when Terry commented on how cold it was, I responded, "Yeah, but it's a DRY cold."

Thanks for the Foggy Berki Report Cecil. And, a big thank you to Sam, Del, Mike, Susan and Michael R. and anyone I missed for putting on an epic Berkie.
Cecil,
I would like to correct a rumor about randos on plastic bikes predicting sub 6 hour 200K times.
First: I wish I had known those guys were trying to beat 6 hours, because I feel like I was wacked by Tony Soprano for trying to follow the rat race pack. I predicted 7:35 for myself.
Second: I observed that Rider#1(Heli) and Rider #2(Terry) rode their heavy-ish steel full fendered commuter bikes (nothing as elegant as cecil's sweetpea), Rider#3(Lamb), #4(Myself), and #5(Michael W) rode titanium full fendered bikes, and finally #6(Alan) rode a steel full fendered bike. So that would be 50/50 on the steel/titanium bikes and 100% full fendered w/courtesy flaps. Where are the plastic bikes? I don't know about you, but Plastic bikes make my skin itch just like asbestos or insulation material. Ok...I forgot about the carbon forks on the ti bikes.;)
My bike (Eddy Merckx Majestic Ti '02) is still making me smile....bonne route
Philippe

So I started a blog and posted a ride report. I really enjoy reading
ride reports and figured I'd contribute to the mix. You can find it
