I like it. They put together some user requirements and put developers to
work. There are at least 5 different bike route mapping utilities on the web
and I think all of them use the Google maps api. I like being able to
register photos along the route. I like the points of interest inventory but
it would be better if it included a route mileage. I like the
map/satellite/hybrid/terrain/topo together on the same map even though it is
overkill for biking purposes. They missed adding zoom to the mouse wheel.
The other features on the site are mildly interesting, like the training
section or fix it options. I had to stop and watch the wheel truing video. I
like the embedded maps and might convert mine to
bicycling.trimbleoutdoors.com this winter as I add new permanents to my
inventory. The one thing that all of the routing map applications are
missing is the ability to search the map and find things along the route
like motels, restaurants, gas stations etc. If you are scoping an unfamiliar
route, the supply info is probably the first question that comes to mind.
I'll continue to stage the route descriptions with embedded maps from either
bikely or bicycling.trimbleoutdoors on randobiker.blogspot.
