Is any rider welcome on the permanents if they just want to ride along
without insurance, card or other registration?

Thanks,

There are differences between these 2 types of events that are not apparent
to newbies. Actually, many members haven't quit sorted it out yet. So let me
explain.

Scheduled Populairs occur on a specific date scheduled weeks or months in
advance. They have RUSA board approval. Oregon Randonneurs scheduled
populaires will be open to all individuals (you do not need to be a member
of RUSA or Oregon Randonneurs.) We currently have one on the calendar, Mar
5, but plan about 5 more in 2006. The key is they are on the calendar.

Permanent Populairs can occur on any date agreed to by the route organizer
and rider(s). These events (the are events) are covered by RUSA insurance
and so only RUSA members may signup and ride these events. You should never
see a permanent populaire scheduled on a club's calendar.

Scheduled populaires and permanent populaires can have the same route... and
in fact the Snoozeville Populaire is a perfect example. The permanent route
a few of us plan to ride this Saturday, is exactly the same route that will
be used for the scheduled event.
